FAQ PAGE FOR PARENTS & GROUPS

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents, schools, youth organizations, churches, and organizers need to know.

Event Support, Safety & Requirements

• Do you require helpers or volunteers at events?
Yes, for our programs and events—we require your staff, helpers or volunteers provided by the hosting organization. We’ll tell you exactly what’s needed during planning.

• Are your activities safe for all ages?
Yes! All programs follow a structured, safety-first approach with insured activities, age-appropriate equipment, and guided supervision.

Waivers & Media Release

• Do participants need to sign a waiver?
Yes. All participants must complete a liability waiver before joining any activity, unless the hosting organization assumes liability on your behalf.

• What about photos and video?
A separate photo/video release is required unless the hosting organization manages photography and provides approved images.

• What if the event host already handled permission forms?
If the host organization (like a school or community center) has its own liability coverage and media permissions, those take priority. We’ll confirm this during planning.

Waivers & Media Release (Required for Online Participants)

Q: Do online participants still need a waiver? — Yes.

All families must complete a digital liability waiver before starting the course.
Even online, students will be practicing physical fishing skills, which can involve:

Casting practice

Knot tying

Handling line or child-safe gear

Optional outdoor practice

A waiver protects both the family and Reelin Family Fun by clarifying responsibilities.

Photo/Video Release (Optional but Encouraged)

If families submit photos or short practice videos for feedback or share their progress on Zoom calls:

A Media Release Form is required to allow us to use images for marketing.

Families may choose not to sign the media release — participation is still allowed.

If a family declines media permissions, what happens?

They can participate fully.
We simply do not use any identifiable images or videos from that participant.

FOR PARENTS

Q: What ages can participate?

Our programs are designed for elementary-aged kids, generally ages 5–17, with adjustments made for developmental stages. Mixed-age groups are welcome.

Q: Is the program safe for beginners?

Yes! Most participants are first-time anglers. We use short casting rods, kid-safe equipment, and hands-on guidance to ensure everyone feels confident and safe.

Q: Do we need fishing equipment for the online program?

Yes. Fishing equipment is required for the online program, as participants will be guided through hands-on skills and practice throughout the experience.

For families, this means each household should have access to at least one beginner-friendly rod and reel. Prior to the program, we provide:

A clear, beginner-approved equipment list

Budget-friendly recommendations

Q: Do parents need to stay during events?

Parent presence is always welcome, and some events are specifically geared toward family participation. For school or group events, parent attendance is optional unless the host organization requires otherwise.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad?

We have a full indoor rain plan that transforms classrooms, gym spaces, or church halls into interactive fishing stations. Rain never cancels learning or fun!

Q: What should my child bring?

Nothing! We provide all the equipment. Just make sure kids dress appropriately for indoor or outdoor activity.

FOR SCHOOLS, CHURCHES, LIBRARIES, & GROUPS

Q: What size groups can you accommodate?

We typically serve groups of 15–60 participants depending on the venue. Larger events can be customized.

Q: How long is each session?

Sessions usually run 60–90 minutes, but we can adjust based on the amount of participants and on your needs.

Q: Do you travel to our location?

Yes — we service Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. We bring everything needed and handle complete setup and teardown.

Q: What type of space is required?

For indoor events, classrooms, gyms, or church halls work perfectly.
For outdoor events, we only need a flat open area (school field, park, church yard, camp area).

Q: Are your programs educational?

Absolutely. Kids learn:

Basic fishing skills
Knot-tying
Casting techniques
Environmental responsibility
STEM concepts
Patience, focus, and problem-solving
Schools love that our programs can align with enrichment, STEAM, and SEL objectives.

Q: Are your events faith-friendly?

Yes. We honor and respect family and faith-centered environments and can adjust messaging accordingly for churches, family ministries, and community programs.

Q: Do we need fishing equipment for the online program?

Yes. Fishing equipment is required for the online program, as participants will be guided through hands-on skills and practice throughout the experience.
For groups (schools, homeschool groups, or youth organizations), the hosting organization is responsible for determining how many rod and reel setups are needed based on the number of participants and how the program will be implemented.

Prior to the program, we provide:

A clear, beginner-approved equipment list

Budget-friendly recommendations

Q: What kind of adult support is required from our group?

Safety & Participant Support Requirements:

What We Ask From Your Team:

To maintain a safe, positive, and well-organized experience for every participant, we require that each group provide a small number of adult helpers. The exact number needed depends on the size of your group.

Adult helpers assist with:

Guiding children between stations

Helping with lines and basic tasks

Supporting smooth group transitions

Providing general supervision

Your involvement helps us keep the event fun, hands-on, and safe for everyone.

Q: Do you provide first aid at events?

Safety & First Aid Support:

Reelin Family Fun carries full liability insurance for all program activities.

However, because every organization has its own established safety procedures, we ask that the host group provide basic onsite first aid support.

This may include:

A designated first aid contact or volunteer

Basic first aid supplies

Any emergency procedures required by your organization

This shared approach ensures that all participants stay safe while respecting your group’s internal guidelines.

BOOKING & LOGISTICS

Q: How far in advance should we book?

Events book quickly! We recommend 3–6 weeks in advance, but we’ll always do our best to accommodate urgent requests.

Q: Do you provide all the fishing equipment?

Yes — for all live, in-person programs and events, we provide all rods, reels, indoor and outdoor teaching materials, activity stations, and necessary supplies.

For the online version of our program, fishing equipment is not provided. Families and groups are responsible for supplying their own equipment, as hands-on practice is a required part of the online experience. We provide a clear equipment guide and beginner-friendly recommendations in advance.
